I've been reduced to using my cellphone to take pics. It's absolutely pathetic because I love taking macro shots and my W580i doesn't have that capability to do so. What to do... I will have to patiently wait for it.

Here are a couple of birthday pics.

Kailing's birthday dinner @ Mizu, Bangsar.

We had yummy sirloin steak, cod, sushi and garlic fried rice. Right after that, we had drinks at La Bodega and there was a live jazz band. We wanted to get the singer to sing 'Unforgettable' (Trish and I were having trouble thinking of really oldie songs - I kept trying to remember what dad would sing during his karaoke sessions). Unfortunately, the singer didn't have the lyrics so they played an instrumental version instead.

I did take a clip of the song and the dedication to our birthday grrl but all got stolen! Stupid thief.

What a great song it would have been for GKL since we've learnt that she'll be leaving us soon 2 years (or more!) Who knows what the future will hold for her Smile

Seira's Birthday Dinner @ Relish, Changkat BB

I was not the latest! Here's birthday grrl and I at Relish. They serve gourmet burgers and the best part is, you can have protein style servings i.e. without the bun. No pics of the food by me, unfortunately.

Kacau only. I was still trying to pick something to order but we were taking pics already!

If you've noticed now, we were all in black. Another thematic birthday.

The Black Theme

Of course, there were others who were non-conformers. All and all, it was a good sober Friday night! Smile Which reminds me, it has been a looooooooooooong time since I had a real party hearty night.

Yay for new petrol subsidy plan! Print E-mail

PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia June 4 (Reuters) -

Malaysia will raise pump prices of petrol by about 41 percent to 2.70 ringgit ($0.838) a litre, Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said on Wednesday.

He also said diesel prices will be raised to 2.50 ringgit ($0.776) a litre.

Apart from pushing up inflation, already at 15-month highs, the fuel price hike could stoke public anger against Badawi at a time when he is trying to arrest a slide in public support for the government and fend off a challenge to his leadership.

Wow. It can't be. Am I dreaming? Pinch me so I'd know if this is a dream! Yay! Our beloved PM has just announced that our petrol prices will be increased by another whopping 40% which amounts to RM0.78! Apparently its part of the new subsidy plan put in place to help us - the Rakyat. I wonder what other goodies our current BN Govt. has in-store for us.

A little history so you can remember all previous good-will gestures our govt. has done for us. God forbid, we don't want to turn into a bunch of ungrateful, street-protesting, opposition voting citizens, do we?

Before 90 - RM 0.89
Year 1990 - RM 1.10 (increased RM 0.21) - Increased 24%
01/10/2000 - RM 1.20 (increased RM 0.10) - Increased 9%
20/10/2001 - RM 1.30 (increased RM 0.10) - Increased 8.3%
01/05/2002 - RM 1.32 (increased RM 0.02) - Increased 1.5%
31/10/2002 - RM 1.33 (increased RM 0.01) - Increased 0.75%
01/03/2003 - RM 1.35 (increased RM 0.02) - Increased 1.5%
01/05/2004 - RM 1.37 (increased RM 0.02) - Increased 1.5%
01/10/2004 - RM 1.42 (increased RM 0.05) - Increased 3.6%
05/05/2005 - RM 1.52 (increased RM 0.10) - Increased 7%
31/07/2005 - RM 1.62 (increased RM 0.10) - Increased 6.5%
28/02/2006 - RM 1.92 (increased RM 0.30) - Increased 18.5%
05/06/2008 - RM 2.70 (increased RM 0.78) - Increased 40%

fyi: Since Badawi took office in March 2004, he has increased petrol prices 6 times.

Going Green Print E-mail

At the recent Discovery Tour, we were given a free 'plant-a-tree' kit; a green effort that coincided with the Discovery Carnival organized by Sime Darby for Denai Alam. Just in case you don't know where Denai Alam is (or what it is), it's a new township next to Bukit Jelutong along the Guthrie Corridor. If you want to know more about this spacious township and its houses, click here.

I'm not a property reseller or salesperson, but I want to share with you how intrigued and curious I am about this kit. It comes with soil and seeds of a tree. All you need to do is to add water and do so every 2 to 3 days until the seed sprouts into a plant. Once it is too huge for the container, you are encouraged to replant the plant at a suitable and spacious location for it to grow healthily into the amazing rain tree (Samanea Saman).

A mature rain tree can reach up to a height of 25m AND a width of 40m. It is famous for it's canopy effect since the width span can shade 100s of tan-fearing people. Most importantly, it would be able to absorb alot more carbon dioxide (I forgot how much) and produce XXXX amount of oxygen per tree. Multiply that with a dozen more trees and you can call yourself a lifesaver! (That is if the tree doesn't get struck by lightning and falls onto the 100s of tan-fearing people).

So try to imagine that I have now in my hands a container of seeds that could potentially grow into a majestic giant! Wonderful isn't it? And if you are one of those lazy buggas that always TALK about giving back to mother nature, you could start off with this li'l green project on your own.

Remember this: Even the slightest and the smallest gestures can make a huge difference and a great impact.

Dinner with Aly Print E-mail

Since it has been a while Aly and I caught up, we decided to dine at her place. We thought of grabbing a meal along Changkat BB where choices of cuisines were ample...

But instead of splurging on bite-sized meals, Aly domesticated herself and made us dinner! Shockers. I thought I'd never see the day when Ms Aly would have a laddle in one hand and a pan in the other. You'd think that she was chasing a stray cat a way but no, she was indeed cooking!

We had spaghetti with sundried tomatoes, onions and tuna. I have to admit that it was very appetizing. And you know my food reviews are never paid advertorials!

After dinner, we headed off to Werner's to meet up with the rest of girls for Eel's birthday! Werner's was second choice since 21 was busy as hell with the usual Friday crowd. Actually, I did like Werner's after all because we managed to get a table and they had large selection of wine (according to my limited knowledge of wine, it was alot ok!)

Above the tables by the bar hung a beautiful, glass chandelier. I took a couple of pics but my hands were too shaky that night (and that was before the drinks). The bar was illuminated in red with concealed lightings from the counter top.

It was a good place to just chill with a couple of your friends or to have a date with your hunnie. Too bad I couldn't take really good shots of this place with my fidgety fingers. And even if I could, the sultry and sexy effects would have been destroyed on camera with flash. But that also didn't stop us from wanting to take pictures of ourselves.

Aly, Me and Ms Beauty Pageant *snigger*

With the birthday girl, Eel and Sharon. Eel strikes a pose with the newly engaged, Pink.

Birthday girl gets her chocolate cake served on a tray sprinkled with icing sugar. Those guys on Werner's sure know how to make it special. Ha!

We managed to cramp in style with the rest of the 21ners. After an hour or so, it was already 1am and I already wanted to go home. Gosh, age really has caught up, hasn't it?
