We have set our date, set our place, confirm our slot at the Church and made sure we have ample time to attend the Marriage Preparation Course.

Oh. Just in case you didn't know from my single liners in my blog (Elvin thinks my blog has become a one sentence Twit), we are getting hitched next year Smile Hooray to us.

The pace of things have definitely slowed because I am comfortable where I am right now. In the beginning, it was so important for me to secure a place at the date that I want due to the scary stories I've been hearing from brides-to-be. Apparently, restaurants and hotels start getting fully booked a year ahead. As I hate disappointment and to rush (a gene I inherited from my mother), I started scouting hotels as soon as he popped the question.

After getting quotations from 4 venues and visiting two hotels on site, I already made up my mind. I fell in love with the resort-style of this hotel. Also, I love how it is fuss free, convenient and dedicated. Where can that be? I'll let you know once I start up a wedding site.

I'd love to introduce my lovely Princess-Of-Honour (a title self given by my shameless Maid Of Honour), my glam bridesmaid and my unofficial bridesmaid which we have titled 'Honorary Maid' out of jest.

Stay tune to more tales of the bridezilla.

stJohnAn Easter Sermon from St. John Chrysostom:

Is there anyone who is a devout lover of God? Let them enjoy this beautiful bright festival! Is there anyone who is a grateful servant? Let them rejoice and enter into the joy of their Lord!

Are there any weary with fasting? Let them now receive their wages! If any have toiled from the first hour, let them receive their due reward; If any have come after the third hour, let him with gratitude join in the Feast!

And he that arrived after the sixth hour, let him not doubt; for he too shall sustain no loss. And if any delayed until the ninth hour, let him not hesitate; but let him come too. And he who arrived only at the eleventh hour, let him not be afraid by reason of his delay.

For the Lord is gracious and receives the last even as the first. He gives rest to him that comes at the eleventh hour, as well as to him that toiled from the first. To this one He gives, and upon another He bestows. He accepts the works as He greets the endeavor. The deed He honors and the intention He commends.

Let us all enter into the joy of the Lord! First and last alike receive your reward; rich and poor, rejoice together! Sober and slothful, celebrate the day!

You that have kept the fast, and you that have not, rejoice today for the Table is richly laden! Feast royally on it, the calf is a fatted one. Let no one go away hungry. Partake, all, of the cup of faith. Enjoy all the riches of His goodness!

Let no one grieve at his poverty, for the universal kingdom has been revealed. Let no one mourn that he has fallen again and again; for forgiveness has risen from the grave. Let no one fear death, for the Death of our Savior has set us free. He has destroyed it by enduring it.

He destroyed Hades when He descended into it. He put it into an uproar even as it tasted of His flesh. Isaias foretold this when he said, "You, O Hell, have been troubled by encountering Him below."

Hell was in an uproar because it was done away with.
It was in an uproar because it is mocked.
It was in an uproar, for it is destroyed.
It is in an uproar, for it is annihilated.
It is in an uproar, for it is now made captive.
Hell took a body, and discovered God.
It took earth, and encountered Heaven.
It took what it saw, and was overcome by what it did not see.
O death, where is thy sting?
O Hades, where is thy victory?

Christ is Risen, and you, O death, are annihilated!
Christ is Risen, and the evil ones are cast down!
Christ is Risen, and the angels rejoice!
Christ is Risen, and life is liberated!
Christ is Risen, and the tomb is emptied of its dead; for Christ having risen from the dead, is become the first-fruits of those who have fallen asleep.

To Him be Glory and Power forever and ever. Amen!

St. John Chrysostom - whose name means "golden tongue" - was a great preacher from the fourth century. His words have lived on throughout the history of the Church.

From now on, we will insert the geographical coordinates of places that we've been to at the END of each post. Whether they are restaurants, shopping malls or tourist attractions, we are sure that it'll be very helpful and useful if you have GPS. All you need to do is key the coordinates in your phone or GPS system and you're there! We hope you like this extra effort!

----------------

Just got back from the airport after sending Bashida off. She'll be back at her hometown after living in Malaysia for a couple of years. I know that she'll be dearly missed after her big entourage of friends showed up in the airport to bid goodbye. The guys and I did a separate do for her last Wednesday.

Dinner at Delicious in Bangsar Village II was a good idea. We got ourselves a table tucked at a tiny corner of the restaurant. As soon as we sat down, the aroma of freshly cooked pasta and meat filled the room. Just like Pavlov's dogs, we started to salivate... and over-order. We shared a crab and mango salad; generous portion of shredded crabmeat mixed with julliened sour mango tossed with a light, tangy dressing.

Mean Salad

For my main, I ordered the seafood linguine. I was expecting pasta in a red sauce base like ALL seafood spag/linguine I've eaten around town. This one was different and it was a GOOD different. The pasta was served with shaved parmesan cheese so I think the sauce was rather cheesey and thick. The seafood was fresh but they could have done better with the prawns. It was translucent and unnaturally crunchy which only means that they used preservatives on the prawns. Bah!

Seafood pasta

I was busy taking pictures of Chip's spicy crabmeat pasta, Shaun's Nasi Kerabu and Ayam Percik and Bash's Duck Confit until Ram complained. "Why? Is my cheeseburger too ordinary? Please take a picture too!" LOL. Sure, coach. I'll make this special and post a picture of your meal! I would love to just take a big bite of that juicy meat but.. it's not Sunday.

Coach's cheezeburger

After dinner, we popped by Alexis for coffee. Seriously, I think I've been too cooped up at home that I did not realize that they have refurbished the place. I love it! I love how they stack the San Bernadino bottled water and the chandelier at the end of the cafe that is one big organized mess of white plastic pieces. Chic.

Bottled water will never run out here

Already stuffed with dinner, the menu.. no matter how many times 'chocolate' was mentioned, was just not ringing a bell for me. A cup of hot chamomile for me please Wink

What to order...

Chip still deciding on what to have. Finally he settles for a cuppa hot choco. Yes! At least one form of Chocolate. Anyway, don't bother ordering it over here. It was quite a disappointment for me. No whip cream. No drizzle of chocolate sauce Sad It's like having hot, concentrated Milo. Another Bah!

Thinking Chip

The gorgeous Bashida in her 'I-am-not-posing' pose. I definitely want to visit her in India. Where she stays, winter can be as cold as -2°C! RM 250 is all you need for food and transportation for a month's stay. I want!

Bash

Here's one of coach looking sharp. Notice the chandelier behind? That's the one I was referring to just now. Pretty awesome, ain't it?

Coach!

Shaun and I exchanging snapshots of each other.

Snap

And finally, we took a group shot. This picture was used as part of her li'l farewell gift that we presented at the airport. She didn't get to see what was in the parcel but I hope it'll be a good surprise once she's on-board her long flight home. We'll miss you Bashida. We hope to see you soon.

The Teluk Intan Wedding of the Year Print E-mail

Location: N Bandar Restaurant, Teluk Intan

GPS Coordinates: N 04° 00.476', E 101° 01.102'

From now on, we dare to go anywhere.. even to the most obscure and least popular places. Thank you GARMIN! We left PJ at 4.30pm (after all the dilly dally). It was a great day to travel because the sun was shining bright, clouds were floating in the clear blue sky and there were no signs of an upcoming downpour.

We can go anywhere with GARMIN!

There are many exits to Teluk Intan. We took the exit to Bidor and it was another 30 minutes drive to our destination. Even with the roadsigns, we still trusted our handy GARMIN (by the way, this is not an advertorial by GARMIN). Notice the McDonald's directional signage? You won't get lost if you follow the sign. It probably is the most exciting fast food outlet and the most talk about in sleepy town Teluk Intan. If you are headed to Pulau Pangkor, follow the directions to Pelabuhan Lumut (Lumut Port).

Turn Right to Teluk Intan

By the time we got into Teluk Intan, it was close to 6.30pm. Exactly as expected, we took 2 hours to reach here. Seeing that we still had time to kill and our tummies were growling with hunger, a quick snack would satisfy our pangs. Teluk Intan is famous for a variety of local delights - the stuffed chee cheong fun (steamed rice rolls with fillings), steamed groundnuts and seafood. After having to travel 2 hours on the road, it is only obvious that we experience the local scene...

On the Road

Yups, this is it. The one everyone talks about..

..

..

..

Macca's!

YES! It is truly a Teluk Intan specialty. The Filet-O-Fish was the best! Steam bun with a piece of deep-fried fish fillet with a dollop of tartar sauce and a slice of cheese. Mmmm.. we traveled all the way from PJ and to spoil our 8-course Chinese dinner, for this:

Hungry for Filet-o-Fish

You must think we are so unadventurous. It reminds me of the time when I was studying in the States and I went home for the summer. After months of Denny's, IHOPs and Panda Express, I was in dire need of local hawker food. Guess where my mom and sis brought me for lunch the very next day of my arrival? McDonald's. How... nice.

Back to our travel story: With a snap of a finger, we were all dressed in our dinner attire.

All dressed up!

When we go to the N Bandar Restaurant, we were greeted in Mandarin and Hokkien. Thankfully, Jamie must have prompted her brother to greet the Mandarin bananas (Us!) This is the first time I've gone to a wedding and not know what's on the menu. I could only guess some characters from my limited knowledge; when I was forced to pick up Mandarin at 5 and from mah jong.

Dreymer: Ok, there's gonna be a fish dish....and for #4, I only know the second character and that's 'sum'

Chip: Must be 'hoi sum' (sea cucumber)

Dreymer: Let's wait and see!

How right he was. SEE! We can survive.

Chinese menu.. er...

Dinner was pretty good. It is not your typical 8-course meal because some of the dishes were served in a different style. The TI style! This is shark's fin broth with scallops served with spring chicken.

Sharing a table with a bunch of strangers is no fun. It is like putting yourself in the sahara with hungry cheetahs ready to pounce on its prey. Survival of the fittest best describes the scene at the dinner table. So you can imagine, the good stuffs (i.e. scallops) were all gone when the serving spoon got to us. Nah, let them fight. We'll show them the way of KLites - that we have proper dinner etiquette (and we will bitch about you in our blogs behind your backs!) Haha.

Yums!

Finally, we got to speak to the happy couple. It's my first time meeting David and he's such a nice guy. Friendly and funny. Jamie's a lucky girl. As expected, Jamie's flamboyant choice of gowns.

With Mr & Mrs Ong

Oh, and I can't stand the emcee dressed in red. He's so girly that it'll make you cringe in disgust. Nevermind that. He goes around with a feathered boa trying to dirty dance with the male guests, WITH A SERIOUS FACE and think he is so damn hot. EWWW!

Happy couple

Took a couple of snapshots of their photo album. I think most of the pics were taken in Pangkor Island.

The photo album

Frothy face? Didn't they know getting rabies is not very romantic?

Frothy face?

By the time they got to the 6th dish, it was past 10pm and we had to head back home to Kuala Lumpur. Again, GARMIN was such a big help. It started to pour a little when we entered the NKVE highway. We even stopped by the rest area for some yummy nasi lemak with sotong. All those driving just makes you hungry.

Back to KL

We would love to make another trip to Teluk Intan. It is a quaint li'l treasure that will be added into our list of towns to explore (next to Kuantan and Taiping). Maybe next time, I'll give Macca's double cheese burger a try Smile
