My perfect Valentine's Print E-mail

Yes. I admit. I'm a sucker for Valentine's. Whether it is commercial or not, over-rated or what... the cheesiness is satisfying! I like the non-extravagant part of Valentine's. Don't need to splurge RM 400 per pax on a fancy schmancy dinner in a restaurant packed with nauseously spend thrift couples and bad service.

With that guidelines, I was surprised with a lovely picnic at the park! I have not been to the Lake Gardens for years. I think the last time I laid my toes on its green grass, I must have been about 5 years ago. That's about a quarter of a century back. Crazy!

After searching for the perfect spot, we got a table under the tree. Plenty of shade, we thought.

The 'shade' was short-lived when the sun started to peek behind the giant rhus, so we adjourned to the grassy slopes. Morning dewdrops, the cool refreshing air and the scent of green grass, ahhhhhh.. the idea of a perfect picnic day out has come true.

Now, just in case you didn't know, the #1 picnic rule: A picnic is not a picnic without sandwiches, milk tea, a woven basket and a red gingham mat. It is not one where you have take-away packets nasi lemak and a bottle of mineral water. Cannot cannot. So, I had to make sure that I was in line with that rule. Here's our picnic spread:

A wicked fluffy scrambled egg, ham and cheese sandwiches with sliced tomatoes and cucumber topped with a dollop of American mustard. Nicely!

MMM.. yummy. Our very own outdoor sandwich kenduri. I like!

We were far from having a teapot to serve out English tea in delicate China. Instead, we opt for convenience - a chilled Pokka Milk Tea was good enough for us!

And, with a little twist of from the rule, Chip got me sushi because he knows how much I love 'em! Cold sushi in the morning isn't a taboo to me.

Hmm.. which piece should I take? Chip in deep thoughts.

To top it off, we even got our own Nat Geog LIVE in front of us. A wasp stung its prey. The spider, paralyzed by the wasp's deadly venom, will be the meal to the predator's babies. I managed to snap a shot of the entrapment.

And there! We ended our picnic after an hour with plenty of snapshots around the park. What did we do after that?! We went shopping and I got a pair of waterproof sneakers for our trip to the waterfall the next day! YaY! That very night, the boys cooked the ladies a hearty Tex Mex meal. Tacos and Dom Perignon, now.. that's an unforgettable Val's. Will blog about that one some other time Smile

Thanks Chippy. Happy Heart Day.
